Learning more about our senses

We have been learning lots about our senses and how we observe and see things. Each of us are unique and we all think like scientists. Here we are exploring some science materials trying to use our senses to PREDICT - OBSERVE - EXPLAIN.

Room 3 2020 clean up morning at the Rerenga Awa

Room 3 took up the challenge from Room 1 to spend some time down at the Rerenga Awa.

Some of the native trees have grown so much we can hide amongst them.

We did some weeding around the native trees while were there.

Super Senses

Today we learned more about each other and ourselves by exploring taste and touch (senses). We had to smell jellybeans and guess the colour with blindfolds on, then guess the colour by tasting with our noses blocked!
In the touch experiment, we had to guess how many points on the callipers were touching our skin with blindfolds on. We learned some areas of our skin are more sensitive than others.

Horouta Waka

We worked with the teachers from the Museum.
We learnt about the Horouta Waka.
The kumara was protected on the waka as they travelled over the seas.
The waka came from Hawaiiki.
The waka landed in Turanganui-a-Kiwa.
